世界を斜めに見つめ、絶望していた20代の頃。

「せめて作品のなかでユートピアをつくりたい」と思い描いていた。

30代、世界は10年前より、悪化しているように映った。

「日常の中に小さなユートピアをつくろう」と、子育てと社会活動に奮闘した。

そして、40代後半に入り、

子育てや様々な挫折や葛藤を経て、アーティストとして、再起動した。

不幸の色眼鏡で見るのはもうやめた。

「世界は、すでに素晴らしいから」

絶望を抱える人々に向けて、暖かい光と愛を届けたい。ユーモアとウィットをのせて。

Since 1999 I have been making a single, continuing series called Ningen Dogs — large, soft creatures that live somewhere between human and dog. Beginning as sculpture, the series has moved through sensor-driven performance and, more recently, song, while pursuing one question: how free can we become from the hierarchies — above and below, winning and losing — that society hands us?

Since 2026 I have called this practice Neo-Pop Surrealism. I take materials everyone already knows — pop culture, everyday objects, toys — and shift them, only slightly. The laugh comes first; the unease that remains afterwards is where thought begins. I believe kawaii is not decoration but the power to loosen a person's guard. Play over anger; charm over negation. I call it yurufuwa avant-garde: soft, fluffy and unarmed.

布と綿でつくるソフト・スカルプチャーのシリーズ。2009年にはステファン・ペランと赤外線センサーを内蔵したモデルを制作し、人が近づくと音を出す《人間ドッグ・オーケストラ》として上演した。2012年には国際芸術祭「混浴温泉世界」（別府）でパフォーマンスを発表。2021年に「人間ドッグ」を商標登録、2025年にはクラウドファンディングで112人から100万円以上の支援を受けた。2026年には人間ドッグの動画がTikTokで485万回再生され、同年、楽曲《We Are Ningen Dogs》をリリース。

A continuing series of soft sculptures in fabric and stuffing. In 2009, with Stéphane Perrin, I built infrared-sensor models that respond to approaching viewers with sound, performed as Ningen Dogs Orchestra. Performed at Mixed Bathing World International Art Festival, Beppu (2012). Ningen Dogs was registered as a trademark in Japan in 2021; a 2025 crowdfunding campaign raised over JPY 1 million from 112 supporters. In 2026 a Ningen Dogs video reached 4.85 million views on TikTok, and the song We Are Ningen Dogs was released.

マグリットをはじめとする20世紀美術へのオマージュを起点に、現代のポップカルチャーや日用品をずらして描く100作品のシリーズ。オマージュ元の作家の意図を読み解いてから、いまの社会——情報、SNS、ブランド、AI——に置き換える。制作の過程はSNSで公開し、2026年9月に府中のスタジオで初めて展示した。

A series of 100 works that begins from homages to twentieth-century art, Magritte among others, and shifts contemporary pop culture and everyday objects. Each work starts by reading the intention of the original artist, then translates it into today's world of information, social media, brands and AI. The process is shared openly online; the series was first exhibited at my studio in Fuchu in September 2026.
